MAZI

Where can you go to find authentic Greek restaurants in Budapest? Look no further than MAZI in the 5th district, just down the road from Parliament. Serving a wide selection of traditional and modern Greek dishes, made from high quality imported ingredients, in a modern atmosphere. This is not your typical 'Greek salad and suvlaki' type of restaurant but enhances the palate with flavours which can only be found in the Mediterranean islands.

The interior, designed by Gáspár Bonta, has a relaxed and friendly feeling - contemporary design, calm atmosphere, mixed with modern lighting fixtures and touches of Greek blues and greens.

I've returned on a few occasions to try various dishes and flavours of Greece - my favourites being the Crete Dakos (ruccola with olive oil, barley bread with feta and fresh tomato), the Greek feta burger (a veal burger filled with feta and served with oregano spiced potatoes, pita, tzaziki and Greek salad), Sheftalia (will be on the menu soon - we got a special tasting: a Cyrpiot lamb and pork sausage, wrapped in caul grease and cooked over a live fire) and last but not least, what I am always looking forward to is the baklava, chios masticha and bergamott orange ice cream - fresh, homemade and amazing flavours which can only be found at MAZI.

Chef Dimitrios Roussis has been excelling in restaurants across the world, from Brazil to Mexico and now in Budapest. He is popular amongst the Greeks in Budapest (but not only!), offering a taste of home to all, and proves that Greek food can be healthy, rich in flavour, delicious and traditional with a twist. A friendly atmosphere to enjoy with friends and family!

Take a look at their MENU and make a reservation!
