NINE HOMES

In Norse mythology the Yggdrasil is an immense tree that is central in Norse cosmology, which is in connection to where the nine worlds exist. Yggdrasil is attested in the Poetic Edda, compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources, and the Prose Edda, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson. In both sources, Yggdrasil is an immense ash tree that is central and considered very holy. The gods go to Yggdrasil daily to assemble their things. The branches of Yggdrasil extend far into the heavens and the tree is supported by three roots that extend far away into other locations; one to the well Urðarbrunnr in the heavens, one to the spring Hvergelmir, and another to the well Mímisbrunnr. Creatures live within Yggdrasil, including the wyrm (dragon) Níðhöggr, an unnamed eagle, and the stags Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Duraþrór.

Nanusha's AW15/16 collection embraces its' inspiration from the mythological story and the designs have found themself in the middle of a place where the mortal and the supernatural meet together. The Nordic cultural details are displayed in the characteristics of the collection, such as the checkered blanket, the fringes, the bell shaped cuffs, high-collared blouses and turtlenecks (my favourites). Colours of chameleon green, natural earth tones, nobel whites, nudes, clay bright orange, lavender and wheat tones appear in the designs, paired with natural fabrics such as cotton, wools and silks.

Find the Autumn/Winter 2015/16 collection at the flagship store on Deak Ferenc utca 17 in Budapest, Hungary. To view the full lookbook, click HERE. Thank you to the Nanusha team for the warm welcome and enjoy the photos from the launch party!

Each collection has a "story piece" which describes the background of the collection. Here, Sandra is explaining to us the story of the Yggdrasil tree, found on the print of this silk tunic. I personally love these pieces and I have a few in my wardrobe from previous collections.
