IB JEWELLERY

IB Jewellery is designed by Ingelin Barstad, who has just recently moved to Budapest, Hungary from her home Oslo, Norway. We've clicked over our love of fashion and design and decided to shoot a look book for her new jewellery collection. The sterling silver rings and bracelets are beautiful, wearable designs meant for accompanying your daily look.

How did you become interested in jewellery design? How did you start?

I have been interested in design since an early age. I started making jewellery and clothes from things I found around. A few years ago, I decided to really try and make something people would actually wear. For me, the quality is key as I want the pieces to live and not to be tossed away after a season.

What is the inspiration behind your collection? Which materials do you use?

I found inspiration in old men's signet rings as my grand-dad had these and I have always liked the style. The second style is inspired from vintage Mexican jewellery, which I find interesting and beautiful. The rings and bracelets are made of 925 silver with oxidized details and the reason for choosing this silver is that it will keep nicer than many other materials. I want these pieces to feel like a part of your every day wardrobe rather than something you would wear only once in a while.

What challenges have you faced with starting up this new line?

I'm in the very start up phase and for now the biggest challenges has been getting the products to look exactly how I pictured them in my mind. I'm not a very technical person, so the web page and shop start up has been difficult. The challenge now is the actual branding and selling. This is my baby and I know I will need thick skin as I will receive positive and negative feedback along the way. I feel like I am going to be selling a part of my self and my identity and it feels quite intimate.

What song do you have on repeat right now?
