WHITE T-SHIRT

One of the most under-rated clothing pieces you could have in your wardrobe? A white t-shirt. This basic item goes with anything for a casual or dressed up look. I dressed up a bit in between both for the Balaton Express exhibition event the other day. This long white t-shirt slit dress is part of the S/S15 collection from Hungarian fashion duo DVA. You can find my post about their pop up shop here. You could also wear this with a swim suit underneath at the beach, leggings, a skirt or shorts. The white tee has been re-invented for summer in Budapest...

BALATON EXPRESS

The first 'themed' exhibition took place at Mono Art & Design yesterday evening: the Budapest edition of ARTplacc Contemporary Arts and Design Festival. Capsule collections and contemporary art pieces were all inspired by Lake Balaton! The inspired theme details were seen on the specifically designed (for this exhibition) shirts and dresses, with small sail boats, fish, water and delicate designs and shades of blue. Famous wines from Balaton's wine regions were served and most guests enjoyed the event from outside as it felt like a sweltering hot day in Mono. Take a look at the exhibit when you get the chance. :) Enjoy the photos!

Featuring artists: Zsili Bertalan Babos, Péter Klimó, Endre Koronczi, Márta Kucsora, Zsófi Pályi, Barna Péli, Ábel Péterfy, Ádám Csaba Szabó.

Music: Peter Hencz + Kiraly Marci (Magas Élet)

ÉMILE

If you are looking for an absolutely wonderful cafe and restaurant experience, you must head over to Émile in the 2nd district of Budapest. Just recently opened, Émile is an oasis away from the busy-ness of the 'city centre' and each room is filled with intricate details which make the visit more enjoyable. From the lights hung outside in the garden to the changing mosaic tiles, a peek into the wine cellar below your feet, curtains behind glass, teacup and teapot chandeliers, a fireplace filled with candles and beautiful china setting in the table makes your eyes wander with excitement. The service is top notch - the staff are polite and friendly, making the experience even that much better. And the food... amazing! I ordered the Calçotada (asparagus with a cream dipping sauce, mini toast and Sauska wine), Hungarian chicken paprikas with freshly made noodles and chocolate with chocolate desert. I was so full, I could barely move. Offering breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, Émile is definitely at the top of the list of cafes and restaurants to visit when in Budapest.

HUNGARIAN TUSCANY

Any opportunity to go outside of the city and get some 'fresh air' is always a good idea.
As much as I love Budapest, I love being in the countryside with plenty of greenery, hills and fields around. Hungary is a country filled with wine and there are special little homes you can rent out with friends to go wine tasting in the regions. I've only been to a few of them (Villány, Balaton and Etyek), however, I am going to make it my mission to explore the regions over the summer and become more acquainted with the countryside. You can find more detailed information about the wine regions in Hungary HERE

STRAWBERRIES & CAKES

I have completely been off my blog for almost a month now and as much as I don't want to feel like a slave to posting something each day or week, I thought I'd share pictures from a wonderful tea party I recently attended in Buda. My friend is an amazing artist, hostess and baker - you'll see the cakes and treats she prepared - and her patio is a serene getaway from the busy city of Budapest.
Was a pleasure :)

DVA BUTIK

I had the pleasure of meeting Annamaria Kaptay and Klaudia Csáki, new Hungarian designers behind the brand DVA today. You can find their pop up shop today and tomorrow at Holdudvar, on Margaret Island in Budapest. These two ladies started their brand 9 months ago and are debuting their Spring/Summer 2015 collection on the island tonight. You can find their designs to be relaxed, can be dressed up or down, sexy, cool and easy going. I fell in love with the woven like backpacks, t-shirt dresses and long flowy maxi-dresses. The geometrical logo can be found on most of the designs and they remind me of little envelopes.

Check out their designs and join them on the island for a fashion show at 20:00 this evening!

Designer, Annamaria

Bags can be purchased online or through the Facebook contact (details listed at the bottom of post)

DVA also produces some funky and pop culture inspired pieces such as these Miley Cyrus ice cream trousers, Batman bathing suits, candy patterned leggings and cheeky sweaters.

This low cut body is simple yet elegant

My purchases from today... LOVE!
This t-shirt 'dress' has slits on the side that go up to about the hip. Can be worn with jeans, leggings, shorts or a pencil skirt.

This dress also has a belt that can cinch in the waist and it is not visible in this photo, but the under layer of the dress stops about mid thigh and the bottom of the dress is more sheer. I ordered this in navy blue and I'm excited to wear it out soon! :)

It was nice to meet you ladies and best of luck with the fashion show this evening!
