TGFWB: KATA SZEGEDI S/S'14

Designer Spotlight: Kata Szegedi S/S'14

The pieces from Kata Szegedi's show were nothing short of fabulous. The bold prints, stunning accessories and splashes of blues and yellows give a hint of something new for S/S'14. I love the asymmetrical elements in her designs, along with the simple but elegant cuts of her dresses. I could see these pieces easily transitioning from day to night.

I love the daring blue eye makeup (not something I could pull off for work, unfortunately...)

TGFWB: JE SUIS BELLE S/S'14

Designer Spotlight: Je Suis Belle S/S'14

Je Suis Belle designers, Dalma Devenyi and Tibor Kiss, have created a collection that is straightforward yet effortlessly chic for S/S'14. Their philosophy is that "fashion is not a privilege, but a fundamental part of everyday life; beyond comfort and wear-ability, it's an important tool for building one's uniqueness." Their placement of graphics (aggressive looking wolves) in the subdued colour scheme gives a more 'tame' feel to the wolves pictured. Again, you can see asymmetrical cuts on the skirts and dresses, which can both be worn casually or glammed up.

TGFWB: NUBU S/S'14

Designer Spotlight: NUBU S/S'14

Although the NUBU designers featured a lot of basic black and whites in their S/S'14 collection, I enjoyed the pops of colour and the use of geometric elements in their designs. You can also notice that the eyebrows of the models were shaped in a way to balance the over-sized blouses, skirts, belts, dresses and handbags that were seen throughout the show.
I feel that this 'baggy look' gave the collection a casual cool and airy feel for the spring/summer season. I could also see a lot of these pieces being easily carried into the fall season as well.

TGFWB: NANUSHKA S/S'14

Designer Spotlight: Nanushka S/S'14

This collection is beyond words for me, as I absolutely adore the simplicity of Sandra Sandor's designs. Nanushka is a showroom I visit quite frequently when I am browsing through fashion district, and the clothing does reflect the city of Budapest in a playful yet elegant style. Her collection exudes harmony in every aspect; through the playful cuts and the luxurious fabrics. Nanushka is for the 'urban nomad' who is constantly on the move, but always at home (like many of us here in Budapest).

TGFWB: ANDA S/S'14

Designer Spotlight: ANDA S/S'14

Anda's S/S'14 collection speaks to me as a resort collection for women who are going to be lounging by the pool, going out for a night in the city, being uber stylish without trying too hard. The fabrics used throughout the collection was very light and airy, so I could see these designs being worn in the Hungarian summer (it does get quite humid!) rather than the spring (the dresses would be very light).

TGFWB: USE unused S/S'14

TONI & GUY Fashion Week Budapest

Designer Spotlight: USE unused S/S'14

Designers Willow Esther, Attila Juhasz-Godena and Andrew Smith,  showcased their talent with their simple, yet sleek designs for S/S'14. Their pieces have no age restrictions, as they can be worn elegantly by women of all ages. The ideal USE unused woman is cosmopolitan, feminine and sleek; having an understanding of traditional and classic designs yet loving artistic and modern clothing. The dresses remind me of the styles from the 1940's, 50's and 60's -perhaps something the women from Mad Men might wear?

The Hungarian 'Lady Liberty' is featured on the designs - reflecting how truly proud the designers are to showcase their country on their clothing
